L'antico ed immutato splendore della terra di Sicilia rispecchia
il proprio gusto anche nelle storiche costruzioni di fine e
ricercata architettura. Il BAGLIO SPANO', dimora estiva
dell'antico casato Montalto Spanò, risalente agli inizi
del XVIII secolo, sorge al centro di un feudo padronale di circa
600 ettari, ancor oggi, nel rispetto delle tradizioni, coltivato
a vigneto. Vi si accede mediante una strada poderale la quale,
attraversando l'intero contado, conduce ad un prestigioso
portone, circondato da alte mura costruite in tufo grezzo, che
cingono l'intera costruzione.
The ancient and unchanged beauty of Sicily is reflected in the
architecture of Baglio Spanò. BAGLIO SPANO' dates back to
XVIII century when it was used as a summer residence by the noble
family Montalto-Spanò. It is situated amidst 300.000
square metres of wineyards only 2 km from the seaside. An old
farm road runs directly to Baglio Spanò and reaches its
main entrance with the preserved ancient door. A courtyard
separates the farmhouse with its guest rooms from the warehouses
which were once used to store the grapes and produce wine. The
building has two floors. On the ground floor you can find the
breakfast room - dining room in the restructured wine cellar, in
which you can feel a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Here you
will taste and enjoy tipical Sicilian dishes prepared by our
cook. In the ancient wine cellar, in which you can still find the
original tools and barrel once used for the Marsala production
and storage, you will have morning breakfast with typical local
products (american breakfast available upon request). The
guest-rooms are situated on the second floor where you can also
find a wide, quiet sitting room now used as library of TV room.
The building is entirely surrounded by citrus trees which release
their delicate perfumes in the peaceful spring evenings.
